One of the last parts i am need to pickup is a Gear Reduction starter. So naturally there is a handful of starters. I am looking at Powermaster's but more concerned on engine fitment when ordering online. So what is everyone thoughts.

My preference is a 19302919 gm performance starter. Can be had on ebay for a bit over a couple hundred. It's a blem but because it has some paint on the housing. You won't be unhappy.

Get a cheapy from a late 90s tahoe
Looking at the 1997 Tahoe (350) and 2500 Suburban (454), there appear to be two starters, the standard is 1.4 kw and heavy-duty is 1.7 kw on the 454.

I would get this one :
TYC 106449L {#10465578} Info
One of our most popular parts

Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction; 1.7KW
$58.99 + $12 fedex ground shipping (to my address)
I just bought it (thanks) :)

I got one out of a junkyard for $20 off a late 90s 350 tahoe and had it on my 10:1 454. Best little starter ive ever had.

The answer to all starter questions;

1) If you have the 168-tooth flywheel/flexplate, get an ACDelco starter for a 96 Tahoe
2) If you have the 153-tooth flywheel/flexplate, get an ACDelco starter for a 96 Impala SS
