Is there any "trick" to removing the sending unit from the tank. Anyone have any pics of removing one? I just can't seem to see where or what I should use to spin it apart. Thanks!

i know this wasnt very smart. but what i did was i took a flat head screw driver and a hammer. and tapped it on one of the little tabs until it unlock and unscrewed. not the smartest and safest way but it works. they have a special socket you can rent at your local parts store to remove it. good luck.

How I do it but put a rag between the screwdriver and the tank. Prevents marring and possible sparking. Or maybe a brass punch and a hammer, dont think brass will spark.

I just use the rag, chisel or scredriver and a hammer

I guess I already knew the trick - started to gently get into it with a punch/chisel & hammer but figured I would stop myself before I got carried away. Should i replace the sending unit while the tank is out of the car?
