The gas gauge in my 70 stopped working last night. The gague is pegged past full and the sending unit checks out resistance wise. I believe I have an open circuit somewhere between the rear sending unit harness plug and the dash gauge.

My question is "where should I look first?". Where does the sending unit wire emerge under the dash?

Check out Wes's info. If the sender is good, problem is either an open sender wire or an open ground wire, either on the gage or on the sender. Either will drive the meter super full.
Inside the car the wire is run under the carpet to the dash harness. Easiest way I found to access the gage and connector, on an idiot light car, was to pull the dash pad.
