I am having a sump put in my gas tank so I am going to need to paint it. is it best to Prime the galv with something first? I would like to Paint it black or silver, I am not above Powder Coating it but I would prefer to paint it on my own.

Any suggestions?

You can red scotch brite and epoxy prime 1 coat and then topcoat with the paint and finish of your choice,make sure you prep-sol the tank real well as gas has oils in it and you do not want to get fish eyes.
