front window replacement

I have read the information posted about replacing a front or back window. My questions are for a 79 camino but I would guess that they would be for alot of cars. On that year would you use the seal strip or the glue from a tube and does the adhesive go on the window than to the frame or on the frame then place the window into the frame. Also for the clips that hold the chrome in place they go onto the car first than clip the molding into place. I took the rear molding off trying to find where a leak is coming from (did not find any hole so I am guessing the window needs resealing) and I saw the posts that the molding clips hold on to but are the front clips held on the same way.
