A few of you are using front adjustable coil over shock conversions.

I would like to hear some Pro's and Con's as far as weight, adjustability.

I am Also trying to figure out how If possible to get the nose of my Monte to sit lower to have less drag as I am running down the track, it sits noticeably up in the front on the way down the track. I do not want a real raked look or to give up any weight transfer.

Tom, I have a set of QA1 coilovers to install yet. The biggest advantage I see (aside from ride ht) is the shock valving. On the lightest setting these pull apart like old worn hydraulic shocks. Only issue may be the one's I have appear to be adjustable the same for damp and rebound, but I could see maybe running them on a #2-3 setting and getting some needed front end travel. I think they do have the drag specific coil overs that offer a different rate for damping and rebound. The coil over set up does make it real nice for getting to the adjustment knob though.

PS - as far as install, these are designed to work with stock lower arms - from what I can see, this is not an issue unless you want to ge really low in the front end, or want to change the suspension geometry for handling.

Tom,
As you may know, I run QA1 "R" series coilovers (w/BB springs) and Global West upper and lower control arms on the '70...along with 2nd gen ('78) Camaro spindles.
I never really have to adjust them. Once I got the ride height set, all my tuning between the street and track is at the shock settings.
And, I run a 28" Hoosier skinny on the track...a 235/70-15 (26") BFG TA on the street.
On street tires...

GW uppers, stock lowers, the QA1 coil over. I like it. Although I am going to raise it up a little more than I have it now. No issues- easy installation.
Be sure to get the little "slide rings" you cover with some sort of lube so you can actually adjust the darn things. They should be included with the kits IMO, but I when I bought them they weren't. Had to install it twice..
But it makes turning them with their special wrench pretty easy.
IMO, it improved the ride quite a bit. Though the springs seem a little soft for a pork rind like my car, maybe that would work to your advantage. Not too soft mind you, but my old springs you couldn't push the car down if you tried..

From a pure design standpoint, I do not care for the bolt-in coil over kits. They have a fairly short spring which will ultimately limit usable front end travel. With the bottom of the spring sitting on the raised shock platform, it obviously can ot be as physically as long as a stock coil spring that sits inside the lower control arm pocket. Short spring, less front end travel or more importantly, less stored energy.

I wouldn't do the conversion for weight savings, a regular DA Coilover setup is only 5 lbs lighter than Moroso drag springs and Koni SPA1 shocks. For the taper spring conversions, probably a wash weight wise. Also like Todd said you'll lose travel with the taper spring setups. Full coilover you won't lose a lot of travel, maybe about an inch, the real weight savings is in the tubular A-arms and a rack conversion. I knocked a lot of weight out of my car last winter doing all that. If you go that route Strange double adjustables worked pretty good for me so far.

You might want to get Ken Jett's input on this as he had a set on his car for a short time.
Thanks Todd...

Watching video's and info from some spotters has my front end really high all the way down the track "nose-up" if you would. With 25 pounds coming off my nose for next year and an anti-roll bar over the rear axle it isn't going to get any better.
