Hi
I just installed new stainless front hose on my 71 that I purchased from Right Stuff Detailing (part number # FH20S) along with hose braket (part number # RSBK70) and the hose are way too short, If I turn the steering full lock I will broke the hose, see picture !!!
Is there something wrong with my installation ???

I believe 2nd gen Camaro front disc brake hoses are longer and could be found locally.
But, I'd call Right Stuff first and ask them WTF??? ;)

Was the car originally a disc brake car? I seem to recall that the brake hose bracket location for disc and drums is not the same.

I am dealing with the same issue in my '70...
I started with "replacements", that I had bought several years ago, when I was taking the car apart.
I decided they were old,and too short, and went to NAPA, but theirs were too short. Went to a swap meet in the winter and asked a guy selling Inline Tube or Right stuff- don't remember which, and he asked if the motor was in the car.."hmmmm, " I thought- "No it isn't". He seemed to think that might be the difference.
I went to eBay and bought a longer set of stainless braided ones, and they seem to be too long! Looks like they'll rub the tires during a turn.
The motor still isn't in the car, so I can't make a final determination about it.

Regarding the swap from drum to disc, and the mounting point? I don't see a separate set of holes for relocating the brackets- I would think they would want to standardize stuff like that....

X2 I thought I had the same problem until it got on the ground and turned the wheel lock to lock, it was fine. I cant remember if I bought them from Right Stuff or jegs or something.

i don't know about the A bodies, but my Nova had 2 different mounting points for the line on the frame for drums or discs... i was able to use Russel braided lines for my car hooked up to the stock drum brake bracket and hardlines, but i was also using C4 Vette PBR calipers so i don't know how much difference that made..

i don't suppose you could flip that frame bracket over? that would gain you about an inch of length for the hose as long as the hard line will pull that far...

What novaderrick said. Looks like you could rotate the hose where it is attached to the caliper too ...

That said, those hoses look really short IMO.

Here's mine. Excuse the wiring. :)

It also looks like your mounting bracket is really far back, for what it's worth ... Mine looks closer to the control arm. It's a 66 so who knows. Bo.

Just like it was said earlier, start by removing the kink in the hose by loosening the banjo bolt and rotating the fitting and don't forget that your wheel is completely unloaded and at full turn, which is an extreme situation.

I had the same problem with my aftermarket brake system. The sales guy swore they were correct yet they had some longer ones they "kept on hand". They fit perfectly.
