Said to be original #'s so i went with him to have a look.The engine block was decked so there is nothing although block date is about 1 month before the build date on the cowl tag.
I remembered reading something once about the vin may be stamped by the oil filter.So i looked and there was a vin, didnt match the car.about 2500 and some change lower.
Am i correct saying it was date correct but not numbers matching.

This guy got red in the face tring to tell me "that number means nothing,the date is what makes it "original #matching".:sad: the guy could of learned something today if he didnt have a brick for the head.
Guess thats why i use the "quote" below,seem i run into alot of these people.

To some people "numbers matching' means -
I told you it was a 396 and look here, it says 396 on both the engine air cleaner and the emblems!

that is so true.
I saw a guy once with a small block in his car and it had a 396 aircleaner on it and he was saying the motor was a 396BB.."its the smallest BBC they make,the 402,427,454 are even bigger in size:noway:".He didnt mean cid.
