I’m thinking that it’s because it was probably a clapped out 4 door that was on the way to the crusher anyway. I’m also quite confident that he doesn’t give two sweet f*@#$ what anyone else thinks. Pretty much sums it up with the “SS- MY WAY” on the fender.
It’s definitely not my taste but to each his own. People will always find something to pick apart on every single car out there. Something not correct on a restoration, a shorty, bad choice in wheel/tire combos, etc, etc, but in the end as long as your car makes you happy then cruise on!
:LOL:Uhmmm.....sorry, but I'm not gonna back peddle on "Picking apart" that abomination that you call a car. How can you even compare that joke of a build, (for lack of a better term) to a legit restoration that might not be "correct"???? There's no comparison. Listen, IDC if your Chevelle cannot win trophies, or if it doesn't have the right factory correct battery with the old caps on top of it, or if it doesn't have the exact red stripe on the radiator hose the factory might have had, which nobody but a car show judge is going to notice anyway. So PULLLLEEEEEZZZE don't even group me with such retards who make a big stink over petty little nonsense like that, OK??? If you wanna stick up for that weirdo's "right" to ruin whatever car he wants to since it was his money to do so, then that's your problem. Sure it's his choice his right to do whatever he wants. But just cuz he could didn't mean that he should.

And BTW if he doesn't "care" what anybody thinks, then why would he be in a cruise or in a show to parade it around where hundreds and hundreds, or maybe even thousands of people can see it all in one day???

Sorry to everyone else on the forum, but you just went a whole new direction with this conversation.

Now the whole forum knows where you stand on that topic. Classy
Good. Nothing wrong with that. Sorry if that hit home with you. Anyway you're the one who started it by hinting that I was "picking apart" someone's car, but I don't even call that a car. If you don't agree, oh well. Then we should just move on. No need to lay all your woke stuff on me. Anyway, I'll try to end our difference of opinion with something that maybe we can agree on, by mentioning that if that's your 66 Nova in your Avatar, ( at least I think it's a 66) then it looks pretty nice from what I can see anyway. Of course you shouldn't take that as my way of taking anything I said here back, since it is NOT. But it does mean that we CAN agree on something at least.(y)

Not that it hits home with me personally, but you’ve just promptly offended many people that belong to this forum that it does hit home with. Nobody needs your, or anyone else’s views, on religion, political, or someone’s sexual orientation. This is supposed to be a place where chevelle people can have a chat without others getting bent out of shape, which you flew off the handle and took personally INSTANTLY. Wasn’t a dig at you in the first place So pump the brakes there sparky. Great, now that’ll get you going. Tag, your it.

"Flew off the handle" you say?? Nope not me. That's why I put the laugh face in my post. It was just kinda funny that you assumed I was one of those who are super critical of people's classic muscle cars, and who try and find fault over nonsense such as what accessory V-belts are on the engines and the like. So I just wanted to point out to you that I am in no way one of those who you grouped me with in your post. You say this forum is for cars, well I gave you an out to make mention something about your Nova by saying something positive about it myself, but YOU chose to stay on this digression of ours. Your choice, not mine.

But ya know what? Maybe it was a feeble attempt on my part to make peace. So now I'll try one more time by going further and say, ok Gillis, I'll admit, that maybe you didn't mean for your comments to be taken the way that I did. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that. Fair enough? My bad. I guess it's just a pet peeve of mine, not wanting to be compared to the group I spoke of who nit pick cars over miniscule things, and the car in question here has nothing miniscule on it. But again, I shouldn't have jumped on you man. Sorry. For real.

I'll let Mr. Gillis have the last word here and back off since it isn't even worth it. I'm sure he will insist on having the last word.
Last word(s). I’m pretty positive you missed the context of my response to your first comment, which has brought us to here. Like i said it’s not my taste, nor yours, which is agreement #1. Something that we ourselves would never do to any car, agreement #2. My 66 is pretty bitchin’ (and so are my 5 other cars), agreement #3. Conversation gone off the rails, #4. Digs at you ….not an agreement. If I was taking a dig you I’d direct it specifically at you, not tiptoe around it. Your comment just happened to be the last comment about how bad it was (the car) that I quoted. I was just making a general observation as to what happens in the car world, and apparently I responded to the wrong persons comment. Going the transgender route was not even remotely needed, on any platform. I hope you see and realize that. Sigh, now it’s your turn because I know deep down that you didn’t want this to end!

Gillis, I don't know what happened here. because I amended/edited my last post about 30 minutes ago, (which I believe was about 8 to 10 minutes before you quoted me above). I encourage you to go back and read post #45 again, because it's different than what you've quoted me above in your last post. And I think you're correct. I believe that I DID miss the context of your post where you first quoted me in this thread. I kind of made mention of that in the edited version of post #45..... peace.;) And yeah, I DO want this to end. Peacefully.

You are correct. While I was taking time in making sure to convey my thoughts in a positive manner, you had edited your post. Which I did not see before I started my response. Cooler heads prevail.
PS. Tag…you’re it. (If you don’t see the humour in this then I’ve failed)

Ed Roth, 1960’s artist created Rat Fink. Popular in the 1960’s.
Yeah, it was still fairly popular when I was a kid in the 70's and a guy I work with that is under 30 has a whole mural of it on the back of his eight foot long tool box. I just never thought it was any good or interesting. I always though a rat fink was someone to be avoided at all costs.
