I have not posted in here as I have had no LS stuff to test but I was digging around in the attic and came across a set of 706 5.3 LS heads and have decided this winter to port them to see what I can learn and make for power. Some luck person is going to get to test these for "free" as I have no LS engines to try them on. Should be fun to port some as I have only done SB BB stuff. Trying to get my buddy with his LS-6 to test them but he does not want to take his car apart. Any do's and don't on these as porting work is all over the place on LS heads on line.

Based on how well your cars perform with your headwork, these heads should do pretty well!
Thanks, I will still have to find something to test them on at a track some day.

Only problem with the LS motors is the cost involved with getting into them. Head gaskets are MLS stock, $100 for a set, then if you're running stock head bolts they're torque to yield one time use as well, another $100.. This doesn't include intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, coolant, etc..

I wish you the best with the porting! I have the low compression 317 heads on my 6.0. Same port design, just larger combustion chamber. Have thought about digging into them, but then there's the cost involved and me not knowing what I'm doing just stop me.

You can reuse all the gaskets…even the head gaskets. LS head and cam swaps are super easy. I just bought the ARP headbolts, they are reuseable.
changing lifters does suck though.
