I drug this over here from UMTR

Been a while since I posted here so I might as well make it worth your while LOL.

Drag racing lost BIG TIME when these cars went away............political BS at the sanctioning bodies.

Oh those were the days, all the dry hops very entertaining!
There was a Vette that used to race BIR, he was just up the road from Walker, Pouty Mouse was the name of the car, claimed to leave @ 10500 & shift @ 11000. Sweet music it was!

Good street rodding buddy of mine ran a 57 Chevey panel delivery in G Modified (I think), back in the early 70's. 4 spd, 292 or something like that. Held the National Record for awhile that summer. Ran all the national events. We always laugh when he says it was his best year of racing ever. He only lost about $8,000 that year!

I was fun watching the wheels come up and the early Vettes, 55's and other cars that ran modified. We had a little 1/8th mile track locally and it was sure a fun way to spend Sunday afternoon. Had a guy from Louisville ( Joe Williamson) ran a little 23 bucket T with a GM 6. That car was quick and sure fun to watch. He was always near the final round.

That was the class my dad ran in the early 70's too. He ran G/MP with a 70 chevelle wagon with the 292 tunnel ram and a 4 speed. I think he ran 12.0's with the car back then. They took the motor out of the wagon and put it in a 61 vette and went 10.70's.

You guys took to the video a lot better than I thought you would! LOL

This is THE class and type/styles of cars that inspired me to build my little Nova........and although there are ways to go faster , as I've had to explain to my Knucklehead dragster buddy , it isnt about going fast just for the sake of going fast , its about going fast with some self imposed or sanctioned rules that you choose to work with.

I'm pretty happy in that my little ol' 23 degree head ( only Track 1s , too ) 355 home built by yours truely , has probably gotten the Nova ( at 3100 lbs ) in the 9.60s now.

Because of some recent "misfortunes", I haven't made a quartermile pass in the recent past.......AND , because of some Nash problems yet to be remedied , hopefully I will this year.

Hey bud, For what it's worth, that 4 door chevelle using a blow through carb is my street car, which happens to be faster than alot of peoples race cars and does so on a 275 radial and not a steamroller.

For what it's worth, I also have two other "Racecars"/Bracket cars. But this is a "CHEVELLE" forum, not everybody cares to see or hear about my Monte Carlo or the Nova. And For what it's worth, I'm here to enjoy and talk about Chevelle's, not Novas that don't run/race anymore.

Now, For what it's worth, unlike some who don't even race their cars, I do. And I have the most fun racing/driving my Street car, but my race cars still have a place, just not so much on a Chevelle forum.

For what it's worth, you start a topic like you did, your probably going to get someone who is going to comment like I did (which was not insuting), it would probably be better to not throw insults back, especially when you don't have a running car....

I dont have a running car? What the hell does that have to do with it? I could have it running in 2 days. Guys like you who boast about thier "street legal" race cars that run on pump gas , I see it all the time...........not to "insult " you but that means nothing to me.........what you've done ( myself included ) could be duplicated by hundreds of guys all year long..............the topic is a "poke" at my Chevelle buddies.

Poking is all fine and good, but you certainly did not put it in that context, then you go on and keep throwing insults...

My Chevelle is not a "Street Legal" race car. It is a street car, I just happen to race it. I actually doubt many could duplicate it, I doubt you could as you lack any amount of open mindedness to stray from ideas that are 40 years old, ie, stick shifts and huge tires.....

And "For what it's worth" I NEVER boasted about my car, I responded that the car you took a shot at is not my race car, it's my street car. My race cars are not Chevelles, so i don't generally talk about them on a Chevelle based forum. Please show me where I boasted?

And "for what it's worth" I see carslike yours all the time, like every bracket race weekend when the track is packed with backhalf cars, or wait, when I look out in the garage at my backhalf car, That's why my street car is in a totaly different catagory, that I'm sure you don't see all the time like you state...

Well "hopefully" you can race your "Race Car" sometime this year, maybe i'll read all about it on a Steamroller Tire'd Nova site. Those of use who embrace modern technology can get it done on stock suspension and a tire less then half the size of the monsters your showing up with... But hey, you got a "real" race car, but that really mean nothing to me....

I guess its whatever floats your boat , as they say. I got over taking myself too seriously a long time ago................eventually you will too.

If you only appreciate turbos , blowers and NOS , thats fine.....................I really only like stick cars ...........but enjoy watching all nice race cars.
