I drug this over here from UMTR
Been a while since I posted here so I might as well make it worth your while LOL.
Drag racing lost BIG TIME when these cars went away............political BS at the sanctioning bodies.
Not a stick but here you goI remember watching my friend compete with a small block 59 vette in MP....
I could hear small blocks winding for two days after![]()
Good street rodding buddy of mine ran a 57 Chevey panel delivery in G Modified (I think), back in the early 70's. 4 spd, 292 or something like that. Held the National Record for awhile that summer.
I think what he means is who had to make hp and not buy it like today however many still make their hpso they are "Real" race cars.... wonder what I've been racing/watching all these years....
I dont know..................only you can answer that. I'm not using "blow thru" carbs with 24 lbs of boost either..............FWIWso they are "Real" race cars.... wonder what I've been racing/watching all these years....

If thats your idea of a "race car" then more power to ya' .............as they say.
Hey bud, ................
better to not throw insults back, especially when you don't have a running car....
I dont have a running car? What the hell does that have to do with it? I could have it running in 2 days. Guys like you who boast about thier "street legal" race cars that run on pump gas , I see it all the time...........not to "insult " you but that means nothing to me.........what you've done ( myself included ) could be duplicated by hundreds of guys all year long..............the topic is a "poke" at my Chevelle buddies.
I guess its whatever floats your boat , as they say. I got over taking myself too seriously a long time ago................eventually you will too.Poking is all fine and good, but you certainly did not put it in that context, then you go on and keep throwing insults...
My Chevelle is not a "Street Legal" race car. It is a street car, I just happen to race it. I actually doubt many could duplicate it, I doubt you could as you lack any amount of open mindedness to stray from ideas that are 40 years old, ie, stick shifts and huge tires.....
And "For what it's worth" I NEVER boasted about my car, I responded that the car you took a shot at is not my race car, it's my street car. My race cars are not Chevelles, so i don't generally talk about them on a Chevelle based forum. Please show me where I boasted?
And "for what it's worth" I see carslike yours all the time, like every bracket race weekend when the track is packed with backhalf cars, or wait, when I look out in the garage at my backhalf car, That's why my street car is in a totaly different catagory, that I'm sure you don't see all the time like you state...
Well "hopefully" you can race your "Race Car" sometime this year, maybe i'll read all about it on a Steamroller Tire'd Nova site. Those of use who embrace modern technology can get it done on stock suspension and a tire less then half the size of the monsters your showing up with... But hey, you got a "real" race car, but that really mean nothing to me....
LOL...............Cool stuff! I have 2 questions:
1) How come the front ends hop like rabbits going down the track?
2) What size converter did they use?
