It sucks because my Nova won't be ready this Saturday but Im going to be there anyways. A friend of mine is going to be there in his 67 Chevelle. I'll just be having some fun in my 2000 Z28 stocker.

Anyone else going to be there to keep an out and to maybe meet some fellow TC members? What cars will you guys be driving to catch some video action?

Hope to see you guys Saturday!

I will be there with my Evening Orchid '65, my sister is bringing her Impulse Blue GTO. There will also be a red primer 67 El Camino, a black '94 Firebird, a bright red '95 Z28 and a few others in my pit area.

If all goes as planned, the SlowpokeMalibu will make its second round of passes down the 1/4 mile. Hoping for a low 15 second pass and a 95ish MPH.

Hopefully it won't have the issues on the backhalf that it did last year.

Unfortunately I'm probably going to have to run on the heavy wheel, tall tire combo, unless I can work something out by Friday night.

Thomas, what do the two late models in your group run?

1hot67, you mean the F-bodies? One is a very tired stock ex-nitrous engine that will barely do 14 flats, the other should be cruising into the low 12's with a heads and cam stock n/a shortblock.

How does your 383 run? Some of the late model 383 combos run quite well, others seem to be dogged by seemingly minor combo mismatches that really hold the power back.

How much is it to run and what times? If I get my fan controller in before then I would love to bring the '66 out from some runs. I usually hit Palmdale for drag racing and I have never been on the strip at Fontana.
You'll like running at Fontana more than LACR when you see your time slips. I ran .3 seconds faster just because of the altitude difference.

The 383 has done an ucorrected best of 12.1 @ 117mph. The driver needs more practice and the car has a few more issues to work out (both suspension and valvetrain). The car is a full weight, fully optioned Z28, and I'm working on getting the car into the mid to low 11's. It's getting the 6-speed out of the hole that's killing me - 1.84 60's isn't going to cut it.

Ihot67, for sure your 117 mph trap speeds indicate that very low 11's are in there somewhere. You need to hang out with the stock eliminator and FIA racers to learn some of their tricks of chassis setup on similar late model F-body cars. To be brutally honest, a hot stick car like yours typically needs a more prepared track surface than you will find at Fontana this Saturday.

Going to Irwindale Speedway Fri night, Fontana sounds like a blast for Sat. I think I`ll bring the 71 SS and run it,I think the new motor should be broke in by now and Rich , you said that Long Beach Swap is this Sun? This could be a very expensive weekend! I haven`t raced my car since Orange County Raceway was open. What do they look for at tech inspection?

I did not know Irwindale ran on Friday nights, tech depends on how fast the car is.

Not when you 60ft in the 2.3xx range. 75mph in the 1/8th is enough to get deep into the 9's but my slug won't get off the line so it runs high 9's.

Gotta love those 2.73s on the highway though.
