Speaking of a truck cab here. How much structural integrity is lost when you butt weld in the floor pans instead of lap weld them? Should I be worried about the cab warping or anything if I do this? Thanks.

well, lap welding had a tendency to collect water underneath and can rust out because its difficult to get paint back in there. butt welding is the best bet. as for warping, make about 3/8" to 1/2" welds at a time but always keep over 8 inches between welds and a damp rag handy to cool the metal down.
