Anyone ever had any experience with a floor jack beam adapter like this...

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-918008/

Looks like it might make lifting the front or rear all at once easier. Would make placing jack stands quite a bit faster. But is it wide enough for a chevelle and above all would it be safe?

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies guys! You saved me from a dumb impulse purchase. It seemed like it might be a good idea and maybe it is for today's smaller cars. I was looking for something that would serve as a poor man's lift in my small garage at home when the big lift at our hot rod shop is in use by customer's cars...of course, the more it is in use there, the better we like it!! :beers:

Thanks again!

I have that same crossarm from Summit. Don't use it very often, but it didn't cost much. I use it to lift heavier items by myself, like bumpers, gas tank, and rear axle. (I used it to lift my tall garage cabinets off the floor while I screwed them to the wall studs.) I also use it to lift the front of the car evenly under the A arms, or the side of the car evenly. My friends borrow it. It doesn't really save that much time if you just want it to place jack stands. I once had a bad experience lifting the whole front using just a floor jack under the curved crossmember, so I don't do that anymore. Instead I'll use the crossarm.

I have this and it is good for raising th efront of the car while keeping the front suspension compressed. I like it because I sometimes place my car up on wooden stands that look like cribbing and they go right under the tire. I could jack under the crossmember, but then the suspension droops and the car is way up in the air, but the tires are hanging down so low that I cant get them under. It was cheap enough and its really all I use it for. I'm sure I'll find another use for it!
