Flame me, but I don't get why folks take this:

and honestly think they'll make something out of it.
Let's be honest, it will take thousands of dollars and as many hours of blood, sweat and especially tears.
I found one in awesome shape and still enjoy it, even if it is a 4-door.

For that same reason I bought a house that needs total restoration instead of a new one - I enjoy it

some people like a car "their way"
and can't see undoing someone elses work..
so they buy a car that they can do...
it's a hobby, some like the build more than the finished car....

yep I hear that guy did most of the work himself. the car was completely stripped sitting in a field in Kentucky.
Sad thing is he's got a whop of 8k in it and it's nearly finished. But he's a dumbazz after all. and an AZZhat on top of that..........what a fool.:D

I've seen a lot worse. 8K and its nearly finished? Thats great! I wouldn't be surprised if he had twice that into it. All said and done, He'll have a 20K car that he can say "I did it my self"
I hear that guy has been working on that junk for 4 years.....and 2.5 years the idiot never touched it. man the HOURS that guy wasted......
4 years LOL. There's guys on this site that have been working on there cars for 8 or even 10yrs.
Some people can't afford to lay down 25-30K for a done car or 10-20K to have a shop build it.
I payed 9K for my 69 and after what I estimate to take 2yrs and probably another 9K I'll own a car that will be worth 30-40K. And when I'm at a show and some one ask's "who did the work" I can say "I DID". I think that in its self is worth more than any dollar amount.

oh and seriously....suppose to be able to PROVE he has ONLY 8 grand in that car at it's present stage......yeah I BET!!!!! i'm like you if you ask his wife it is probably twice that amount.

Well I guess thats why some call it a hobby. One of the guys in our club last year had video of his cars body restoration/reconstruction on a 66 that was probably 10 times worse than the one in the picture.

i'm not sure what we're looking at....my elky actually came in five piles of parts. unfortunately most of those parts weren't for the elky, but crap people wanted out of thier garage. i have 14k in mine, and i still need to rebuild the 396 before i can drive it. i think for a lot of guys like lance-w, my brother, and many others, it's the challenge, to take a pile and ,make it a driver. when my ride is finished, it won't be a trailer queen, but with pride, i can say, me and my buddies built that. guys here donated parts, other guys gave me deals, and still more came to my home and put sweat into this ride. would i pop a 20k check for a finished ride, if i had it? probably, but i wouldn't have the stories, and some of the friends i've made. at 14k, i'm way too deep in this ride, but seriously, i wouldn't trade the expierence. i learned a 10k budget will probably go 17k, i learned there are people to go the extra mile to get your ride up, i learned freindships made, go well beyond the project, i learned there are some guys who have more talent than i'll ever have.
