Nine 410 sprints made it up north last night, was supposed to be about 20. I've never seen the before but on TV, all I can say is WOW. 2nd heat the track tacked up perfect & they never had to lift in the corners, even saw some 2 foot wheel stands out of the corners.

Plus lapping 118 mph on a 3/8 mile track is pretty impressive too.

Might just have to go back, next time they come around!

I went to an Outlaw race once about 15 years ago, my first dirt event. Before things got started I was looking at all the folks around us with goggles and breathing masks thinking WTF? That was the first and last dirt event I went to. Not my idea of fun getting rocks thrown at me and going home covered in dirt. Not to mention the yellow flags every other lap (not a big circle track guy really). I'll stick with pavement road racing thank you very much.

I used to go to sprint car races all the time when I was younger (Knoxville, Iowa - Home of the Knoxville Nationals and the "Sprint Car Capital of the World" is only about an hour drive from where I live). I even had a friend that used to race. The Outlaws definately put on one heck of a show. I was always amazed at the cars that pulled their front wheels off the ground on the front and back stretches. Good times!

It's even more fun to drive one.......Nothing can prepare you for it. It's very intimidating and explosive.
I'm sure it is, I think I'd be intimidated by a Midwest Mod.

Ah..Umm....If you think Manzanita was one of the best.....have you never been to the Mid-West? (Knoxville, Eldora etc.etc.) and yes I have been to Manzanita for an Outlaws show a few times.
Let me rephrase, Fastest  is the term I meant to use. I think you will agree with that. :beers:

Smart ones I guess . I'm the one that felt like a dumb newb ass showing up without the proper attire :p.

I probably came off pretty negative with my post and it's true that I didn't enjoy the racing as much other types I've seen. I want to make it clear that I LOVE all racing including dirt. The track I went to (Tri City Speedway in Illinois) was pretty dry that night so the dust was bad. We sat at the far end of the stands down too low so the cars were pretty much blasting us coming off the last corner. Anyway I wanted to get that off my chest so you guys didn't think I was a pavement snob. I'd go to a dirt event again, now armed with more knowledge of the sport.
