I've been wanting these a long time. Kind of a throwback to the old Radir wheels from the 60s. I got 15x4.5 for the front, and 15x8 for the back. Summit was having a massive sale on them. After the 15% off Summit card 1st time discount, I'll only be out about 500 bucks. Although I'm a long way from being done with my resto, I just has to get while the gettin was good.

Now all I gotta do is pick up a straight axle kit from Speedway Motors and I'll be set!

$500 for brand new wheels you wanted - now THAT's the steal of the day! I remember building models of cars that looked like that pic. Also it reminds me of the car that got me into Chevelles. A guy who was about 5 years older than me had a 67' Malibu that was red w/primer. He ran fat Cragars in the back, skinny in the front, Thrush pipes, and had BB front springs with a 327 so it sat a little high. It wasn't a beautiful car but it sure looked damn tough! When I got my 66' in high school, I made mine a close copy of his and I was all smiles.

Thats a smokin deal right there and love the vintage look. Can you elaborate a little more on this car you are building?
It's a 66 Chevelle SS396 I've had since I was 18 (1988). Lemonwood yellow with a black vinyl top. It was last plated in 1993, when I crushed both heels and ankles. Got married in 2002. Put it up on jackstands, intending to restore it, but then had kids and it kinda went untouched until late 2021.
Here's a picture from 1988:

And here it is now:

Like I said earlier, I'm a long way from being done with it, but I couldn't pass those wheels up at that price. So they'll stay in the boxes till I'm ready for them, except when I take one out to look at it.:D

They have a 4inch dropped version that is a lot less severe. I may go that route. I may do spring spacers if I can do it without screwing up the steering geometry.

Could you just raise the OEM suspension to get the look. What are your plans for the car? Race? Street? A straight axle is not known for good handling. I'm not trying to change your mind but that picture from 1988 is beautiful. Does 8t have a straight axle there?

My first choice is definitely seeing if I can raise the OEM suspension enough to get a semi gasser look without screwing up the geometry. The 1988 picture is when I first got it with stock suspension. I always liked the gasser look, so I put some cheap spacers in the springs to raise it some, but I wanted to raise it a little more. I'm not sure if I can do that and still have the wheels in correct alignment. The car will be primarily street, but I definitely wanna take it down the track from time to time.

Hopefully you don't end up like me. I bought wheels really early in the build and years later when all of my suspension was done they didn't fit correctly and I had to get different wheels. All I'm saying is don't jump the gun, maybe now focus on the chassis work. I know it's not as glamorous as new wheels but if you can't bolt them on anyway......

Bummer.....When shit like that happens to me, I always tell myself that its an opportunity for something else or better to come along. I guess now you get to hit some swap meets and look for some cool wheels for that 66. I finally found me a complete set of daisy wheels for an old school hot rod I'm planning in the not too distant future. 15x7 fronts and 15x10 rear
