Well, I haven't posted here in a while but I do remember a few supporters of my performance would be interested to know that the 70 went [email protected] on a Drag Radial tire pedaling the car a couple times to overcome tirespin in testing down in Bakersfield 2 weeks ago at the WCHRA race. First ever event qualified 5th with a 5.53 (it's 1/8 mile racing for my class) leaving on the footbrake from an idle.

Now it's time to do some serious upgrades to the car to get it to leave hard, power control, and suspension upgrades are on order.

Sounds like you have a little E.T. left on the table on that quarter mile run. Tell us more about the combination. How much do you have to weigh, nitrous, transmission, etc.? That 1/4 mile speed is enough to get you into the 8.50 E.T. range. Was it running 127 or 137 at the eighth?

I guess people complained about the wear and tear, and the top end advantage the turbo cars have so to equalize it they made it 1/8th mile which is actually better because it's easier to be competetive, plus easier on parts. My car has to weigh 3200lbs, and it's a blown alky SBC with a Hughes Powerglide. I think that run the mph at the 1/8 was only 127 cuz I left so soft. I still have to get some new rear shocks, the single adjust won't work well with the radials.. and get my msd ignition on the car so I can throw some tunes in the box to help kill power out of the hole so I can launch. Once I get all the stars aligned I'm hoping for high 5.20s on the current tune.

Sounds like agood combination and your car is nice and light for a '70 Chevelle. Very nice runs. You'll start standing up if you hit it very hard out of the hole, trust me on that one. Feeding the power in smoothly is the best way, they are always faster and quicker if you can keep them out of the sky. Does your have stock suspension or ladder bars?

The car is stock framed bumper to bumper, minitubbed, ladderbar/coilover rear. 12 bolt 4.11, Dart block/heads 408 Injected on alcohol with a SSI 10-70 High Helix Retro blower, enderle fuel system, full steel, all glass except for the hood. Full interior minus back seats, and racing buckets up front. Car weighs 3200 with me in it race ready. Hmm if you want to see more pictures go to the Flickr link below and there are some pics of the buildup under the Alky70 Fabshop gallery.

Picture from first round in bakersfield, car definately hooks, just have to work on keeping it hooked!
