I have had a belt throwing problem ever since I got the car going last year. To make a long story short, it was the blades on the alternator cooling fan were flexing at high RPM and hitting the belt. The alternator was new with the chinsy tin fan. I put a factory alternator fan on it and the problem went away. Just thought I would report what I found to maybe help someone else with the same problem. I was almost ready to do a fancy pulley setup until I found it. Thanks. Picture of fan attached.

Good job ! Did you replace the whole alt or just the pulley with the fan ? what part number ? thanks

I just replaced the fan only. The alternator and pulley are the same. I originally bought the alternator from an electric shop in town here. He just switched the fan out quick with a factory one that was there.
