I just finished to body/paint on my 68. I bought a antenna from NPD. I can not believe that I have to remove the fender to get the thing installed. I got the wire routed fine but I can not get the base deep enough into the fender to install the metal ring that is on the underside of the fender. I think I should have shaved the hole and used a hidden antenna. Has anyone had this issue? Help please !!!

I shaved the hole and used a hidden powered antenna behind the rear view mirror...

I am afraid you have to temove the fender to install a stock antenna.

Good luck,
Theo.

My 69 has a gap in the doorjamb that allows access to the inside of the fender when I open the door. I know this because I'm constantly cleaning leaves out of it. Can you get to through there?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I was able to take the hood off ,remove the upper fender bolts, wedge it up with a wooden block and slip it in from the engine bay/cowl area.
