I saw this blue LS6 car on Ebay. The guy says it's all original. But he lists the dates as follows: "T1007CRV block (oct-7th 69)- 3964291 heads sept. 69 - M22 trans POM29C (august 69) - CRW 410 12 bolt posi rearend CRW1007B (Oct.7th 69) - 3963569 intake - 3969811 water pump." My question is this, if the pilot LS6 was built Dec. 9/69 are these dates even possible? Would they have assembled the engine 2 months earlier than the first pilot car built? Especially with a VIN indicating it was the 58,XXX car built? Just curious. Ebay #140349490125

The rear end stamping looks tampered with. Something a little odd about the engine stamp also, like it's too pronounced in the area of the CRV.
The car is built 3rd week of December, so it is possible to be originally an LS6. Here's the link for it.

I agree about the CRV - looks re-stamped or something. the rear end stamp on my 67ss396 looks different than that one too but it as an atlanta built car. it is however a beautiful car I would love to own. shouldnt get any arguments at the show.....

That is a sweet car.....but the Oct. 7th date and a CRV suffix tells all about it numbers matching status.

Is it me or does the cowl tag look too fresh? Can it survive 39 years and still look that fresh?

I can't tell for sure by the angle but the tach looks like it has a rivet like the repops. Would the engine have been assm. 1st week of Oct and not put in the car until the 3rd week of Dec??. The build sheet for my Van Nuys built convertible is dated April 22, the engine was assm. April 9th in Tonawanda,the Muncie trans was assm April 7th and the car was shipped to Iowa and delivered to the new owner on May 7th. I wonder if since the LS6 was a new deal they had parts assm. and ready to go long before the cars were built?? No question about it it's still a very nice looking car.

Yes, that is definitely not a GM tach. It should have two screws on the lower end, and one screw up top. And there is no way that is a '70 steering wheel, or at least center SS plate.

I am also wondering why the bell housing, rear end, and drive shaft aren't painted.

Tonawanda date is way off the mark. I think the Van Nuys plant was pretty consistent in getting the blocks into the cars around 3 weeks after assembly in New York.
