Any of you guys use this stuff for trunk lid drumming ... ??
I think the inner bracing on my '66 is banging against lid .....
It's the original trunk lid ....

It should work OK for that. Try lightly wedging some thin cardboard into the gap between the lid and the bracing to see if you can control the noise. Maybe a dab of some of these modern vehicle construction automotive adhesives can stop the noise???

The fat mat is sticky enough to hold on to anything it touches, but don't think it should be used to glue things together? Once it's on, it's on, and it takes a LOT of elbow grease to remove it. As Rick said above, I would get a can of seam sealer from your local autoparts store.

I used this seam sealer in my car and am happy with the results. Has a thick consistency and sets up firm, would be perfect for building up between the bracing and lid to hold them away from one another: https://www.autozone.com/sandpaper-...n-gray-auto-seam-sealer-caulk-12oz/167027_0_0

It's light grey out of the tube and set up if you're worried about color.

My concern was also the permanence of using it ....

I'd install shims until it stopped making noise (rubber, cardboard, wood, etc), being sure to not deform trunk lid. Once you were happy with it after test driving I'd clean the brace and trunk lid w/ brake clean, then fill the space with seam sealer and let it set, once hardened you could remove the shims. The seam sealer will stick to the brace and trunk lid gluing them back together. You could also use panel bond or some other adhesive if wanted.
