FINALLY have got Nicholas' 70 Chevelle Malibu done and on the road. Currently have SF insurance but need to insure it properly.

The car has:
New paint(jaguar blue with white SS stripes)
All original body metal(front front fender patches, and rear lower 1/4 patch)
All new front suspension with disc upgrade, new rear brake system as well
New interior(except door and 1/4 panels and dash)
Stock 350 with cam and headers
Upgraded 94amp alt and alum radiator with electric fans

I easily have 12,000.00+ into it at this time. What would be a "fair" price to value and insure this car at.

Pics soon I hope. TIA Pete

Pete, your best bet would be to take the car to a professional car appraiser in your area. They will give you the honest scoop, then you shouldn't feel too bad if something should ever occur. The appraisal I got for my car was a 5 page description with lots of photos. Then look into getting collector car insurance, my State Farm policy was way more than the collector company I am with now. Sorry, no recommendations, since I'm another country away. Daren

Daren thanks for the suggestions. Can't insure this one with a classic company as my 18 year old will be driving it ALOT since it is his and classic car insurers won't insure anyone under 25 as I understand it. Pete

I have SF too, and mine is also a driver, so cannot use classic insurance. What I did at the time was to show comparable values from Classic Car Trader and other ads for cars for sale, plus the NADA value page for my
year/model. When you have put a lot more money into it that it's worth to a buyer you have to get a professional appraisal to prove it. In my case if stolen or totalled I still wouldn't get what I have into it, but would get enough to buy another comparable El Camino. After talking to an appraiser
I discovered that because of the little things/problems caused by driving it all the time it wouldn't appraise for more than that anyway. In your case with it just being finished it's probably at it's maximum value now and you should get the appraisal before it starts getting pebble chips and parking lot dings.
