hi i have a a 70 chevelle sweep style dash i just got another sweep style dash the other one had a broken lense any way will there be a factory pigtail that i can plug my clock too?? it didnt have a clock originaly the new one does just a nice little extra.
pretty sure you need to hook a clock to the same wire that powers the lighter
I know the 68's and 9's were that way
it is also the same wire (orange) that supplies power to the courtesy lamps and should also be listed on the fuse panel
this one will stay live when the key is off
Back in those days everything was an option. The clock was one option. The way it tacked into the main harness was an option harness. M & H will sell you one. Look under 70 Chevelle. http://www.wiringharness.com/
You can connect it as Tom stated but you will need to run a ground wire, as the sweep speedo cluster is plastic.
If correct is a concern. The clock on a 70 sweep dash, from the factory or by the dealer, used a separate harness that connects to the BAT terminal on the fuse block for power and at the parking brake for ground. The SS or optional gauge dash has the clock power connection built into the harness.
