Well I've done it and all the parts are mounted. Now for the wiring. When ordering a new harness for the '66 I see a couple options. Outside the fire wall "or" under dash.
The question is, knowing this car was only set up for heat I have some of the wires I need for the blower motor in the dash already. Will this mean I am better off with the fire wall harness?
My repair manual gives me the schematic for A/C but says nothing about a mid year change to wire routing.
Has anyone been down this road?

I visited M&H Fabricators www.wiringharness.com they indicate that some 66 Chevelles with A\C have part of the A\C wiring in the main harness. Because your car came from the factory without A\C you will need the harness listed, part #04895. You will also need part # 05165 this wire connects to the horn relay and a fuse holder that is part of the A\C harness. It supplies 12 V to the high-speed blower relay.

You will use the #14 brown wire from the heater wiring. It supplies fused 12 volts from the fuse block, don’t cut it use a small screwdriver to release the wire terminal from the plastic plug. You will connect it to a plug in the new A\C harness. The rest of the heater wiring will be abandoned.

If you don’t have an assembly manual, get one it is well worth the money. It will show how to install the A\C components and wiring.

Good luck. I have a 67 SS project. I have a factory A\C system to install in place of the heat only system.

Thanks Elree,
I'll check them out and appreciate the info.
I have an assembly manual that makes the wiring look very simple. I was trying to come up with a way to use my current heater wires and just change the plug. It won't kill me to tape them back but it seams like a waste.

I'm in Wisconsin and my parents are snow birds and spend a lot of time in Chandler. I try to get there when I can for the last week of Feb. to see the nationals at Firebird. Love the small of nitro in the morning.
My Dad found all the parts I needed in one of your local salvage yards.
