There is a plastic cover that goes over it from the factory. Over the years they get broken or removed and never replaced. It doesn't affect anything, but you can get a replacement "inspection cover" if you want.

When I installed a 700R4 in my 70 I used the 1970- 350-T metal cover. ( metric bolts in the 700). I also drilled some 1" holes to help vent any heat. :thumbsup:

Summit sells the metal covers, just bought one for my 72, took about 6 weeks to get it. Have not installed it yet, but it looked good when I inspected after shipping.


Today 50% of all marriages end in divorce, but 100% of car part deliveries end in happiness.
