So I got my Chevelle running again after a few years of sitting. Turns out that I maybe thought it was okay before (23) but I'm finding it a little loud now... (26 now lol)
So I have dual exhaust, 2.5inches that comes out right infront of my rear tires on both sides. I want something that maybe has a nice rumble but isn't going to raise any eyebrows, a buddy suggested Flowmaster 50 or 80 series, anyone have any experience with those? I have glasspacks right now so it's pretty bad...
What do you suggest? I want to make sure that no one will even think that maybe it's too loud, something that sounds good but is obviously very legal

I have Magnaflows on mine. Constantly get very good comments on the sound, and the neighbors love it because they are nice and quiet if I want them to be. They bark though when I put it right down. I personally think they are the best overall sounding muffler on the market. Flowmasters just sound like garbage in my opinion, unless you like loud with no real umph to back it up in the sound, just loud, I would stay away from them. Plus Flowmasters are far too restrictive.

Jeff,

If you’re not a fan of the Flowmaster chambered muffler sound, we also offer Hushpower mufflers for their own distinctive tone.

Flowmasters aren’t restrictive, unless you get a muffler which is too small for your application. That’s why we offer so many different configurations and sizes.

Here’s a cutaway view showing Flowmaster’s internal design.

The design of the Power Chamber doesn’t restrict flow, it actually manipulates the exhaust pulses from the exhaust valves opening and closing to increase velocity through the muffler. Instead of slowing the velocity, it speeds it up.There’s a lot more technology that goes into muffler design than most people think.

Flowman, which one of these would be the most quiet, yet flow adequate to support a 540" making 650-680 hp. 3" in/out, offset/offset, straight duals, full 3" tails.

50 Series Big Block. 5 x 12 x 22" case
70 Series Big Block II. 5 x 10 x 22" case
Super 50. 5 x 10 x 17" case
50 Series HD. 5 x 10 x 18" case.

I have 18 inch Dynomax bullets that stop at the axle and get nothing but compliments on the sound. They are more on the loud side than not, but don't have the constant drone that some mufflers have.
