I'm rebuilding a .060 over 350 to go into
my 71 malibu. It's not super high performance motor but should put out 325-350
HP. Is a 3" dual exhaust too much exhaust
for this car. What would you recommend?
If 3" is a good size to go with, has anyone
had experience with the Toque Tech exhaust.
Thanks for your expertise, it's appreciated.

3" mandrel bent pipe is helpful on 475+hp motors. and 3" is alot louder than 2 1/2" and 2 1/2" is pretty loud. the 2 1/2" might be more suited if not overkill for your application. also i wouldn't worry about the mandrel bend until you make alot more power. you can the 2 1/2" done at any good muffler shop reasonably cheap.

I went with 2.5" compression bent and cheap two chamber mufflers behind my 400. I was told I'm at roughly 400 horse. The 2.5" does great at maintaining even back pressure.

John, have to agree with the smaller...I have had lots of exhaust questions recently, and have been consulting with lots of installers, and they all say that big is not better...for your application, 2 1/2 is more than enough...smaller pipes are better for low end torque and hp anyway, and by low end, I mean just about anything we get into on the street...

Just to let ya know torque tech also offers 2.5 inch systems, It's in small print in their ad in the back of Super Chevy.
Good Luck, Steve

John, I run the Torque Tech 2 1/2" system behind my ZZ3 with Walker Dynomax "Hemi" size mufflers with great results on my 64 EC. Mine fit fine and sound great.
I think 2 1/2" would work out great for the engine you described.
