Don't want to crimp the clamps quite yet on the mufflers as I need to take them back off.

Is there any 'sealant' or even a wrap that holds up to cut down any leakage at the muffler/pipe joints?

I assume I'm not getting much there, but I also don't want too much leakage right under the car like that.

It isn't a show car, so if there is a wrap that works, I'm fine with that as well.

Thanks,

Why not use band clamps? They don't crush the pipe connections, they seal good, and you can take things apart easily whenever necessary. For a little extra insurance against leaks I like to run a bead of Permatex 80335 Muffler & Tailpipe Sealer on each side of the joint. Then put the band clamp on and wipe away any sealant that squished out from under the clamp. The Permatex stuff is usually sold at your local auto parts store.

I've used stainless steel bandclamps without any type of sealant and I;ve never had exhaust leaks, nor did I have any problem taking them off either.
