Which do you think looks better on a 71. Out the back with the original style tips, tucked under rear bumper, out the back with slash cut tips, or out behind the rear tires with slash cut tips?

On a Chevelle I like the rear exit oval tips just under the bumper but on an El Camino I like when the tailpipes exit right behind the rear tires.

As has been mentioned, it depends, but for the most part, I prefer the factory style outlets. Also, I REALLY prefer the pipes (front and rear) to be bent to conform to the under car, ALL IN ONE PIECE, rather than a bunch of welded joints.

Our 70 with 1-piece front/rear full 2 1/2in pipes bent to conform. Since it is a Malibu rather than an SS, I had my muffler guy bend down the tips.

This is my cousin's 55 6cyl pickup with 1-piece front/rear pipes. Clean and neat.

On my '71, I have the tailpipes coming out under the bumper with slash cut ends.

Road Roamer. I am sold... I like the way that looks.. I am going to try TRY to do the same for mine.
The early years look really good from the side exit. the later years look really good stright out under bumber. I68/69 have the pointed rear end of the car and you lose that if you deviate too much from the lines of the car. JMO.. not the Gospel...
have to save that pic for future reference.
