EPA hits Honda aftermarket..

I like clean air and clean water, but I think that the epa has too much power. This is not political because they don’t get elected. I don’t think that non elected officials should have so much unchecked power. This makes no sense to me.
The accused claimed
1. that they only do this for off road/ race vehicles only.
2. They only burn ethanol and methanol
3. Also, are they not cleaning up emissions with this anyway and getting a better, cleaner running engine as a result?
They may or may not have broken the law but I personally don’t think that they were breaking the spirit of the law.
I grew up in the country where I knew multiple people that had trucks that could “roll coal” as they would say. I could see them going after those guys, but this is stupid. We as Americans do not need to let them get away with this. Our freedoms are being stripped before our eyes by both sides of the aisle and our beloved car hobby seems to be in the cross hairs of certain people in this country.

The claim that they are doing this only on offroad/race cars is a pretty thin claim, hard to prove and almost impossible to monitor.
The real problem is that, whether they make it better or not, they are manipulating a pollution control device on a pollution controlled vehicle which is clearly a violation. If they are indeed making it better, they should apply for CARB certification (which I doubt they could attain).
That all said I agree with him that there needs to be some flexibility and to not have these rules applied with a hammer. There are true violators out there but they never seem to get caught. I'd like to know how the EPA can prove the violations in question are cars used on the street. If they are truly only race cars the EPA has no jurisdiction.

I didn't watch the video, but I did read motortrend's article EPA Targets Colorado Tuner With Huge Fine , and it seems they were posting videos of "test driving" cars, that they modified, on the public streets around their shop.

If the EPA wants to clean the air up, get those POS cars and trucks that drive around with one or more dead cylinders off the road, they are the worst polluters out there. This is nothing more than the EPA puffing it's chest out saying "look at what we did, we saved the planet" govt. people are mostly idiots.

They also nailed JHDiesel with a big fine too, who just so happens to be friends with Brent at PFI Speed.
What the EPA is doing to modified cars is the biggest joke, especially when we all know big manufacturers are faking emissions. It hurts my head to think about how stupid some of the people in office are.

Harley Davidson was hit in 2017 for 10s of millions for selling tuners. BS is what it is.
