At a minimum use the Holley 302-2 oil pan (not the knockoff) and if you want it easy get the whole Holley swap kit.

As we so very, Very, VERY often mention around here - stick with all Holley swap parts. Yes, they are more expensive but somebody else has solved all of the problems for you.

Fake, knockoff or otherwise counterfeit Holley swap parts need not apply here.

Very happy with the Holley stuff on my 70. I went with the 302-3 pan and Forward mounts for my LQ4/4L80e swap. The pan is a nice tight fit in the chassis with "just enough" clearance for everything. On my 70' I only had to make a small dimple in the trans tunnel on the drivers side to clear a sensor on the 4l80e.

You can see my swap, have link in my signature. LQ4 in a 64 4 door, budget build, worked with what I could. I went the HARD route and used a cheaper fbody pan, had to notch the crossmember to clear everything and still don't have the greatest driveline angle.

As mentioned above, if you can swing it, Holley did the homework for you.

When setting everything up you need to keep the vehicle weight on the front suspension. Do not place the jackstands on the frame by the door hinges. Our frames aren't strong and the front will sag giving you bad results when you take the car off the stands.

Best of luck, start a build thread, there's plenty of knowledge here and you'll get the help needed to get it done.
