I have a 454 block that was taken from an engine bay fire - 1987 K30 where the transmission dipstick came out and burned up the truck. I took the engine apart and had it oven baked, bead blasted and checked for cracks - all came out fine. I had it align-honed with main studs, decked and bored .030 over - now serves as a 427, A lot would depend on how wet it got putting out the fire (did it crack), the only way to know for sure it to tear it down and have it checked.

My fathers friend lost his LS-6 black chevelle in a garage fire. The engine was actually on a crate on the floor, which did survive the fire. I do believe the heads were damaged, and he went to canfield aluminum heads, and that engine was put into two other cars, and still runs to this day. FYI, the fire was in the mid to late 70's.
