[1968 ragtop]

Hi everyone, I am having a hard time find out what exactly my motor is, the suffix code on the motor is CE4N3058. This is in My 1968 that originally came with a 307 & a Powerglide. the only thing i have found out so far is that CE is for a factory replacement motor after 68 or a 1957 265. the side motor mounts make me think it is not a 1957 265. i can see the back of the block to get casting number, can any one point me in the right direction with out the casting number. By the way 4n3058 is not the last of my vin number.

with the hood up, and good flashlight you should be able to look down from back between hood and firewall and read those #'s. and then we can help you....Jay

just took a linkage off the trany to see number, casting number is 3970020 which I have researched as a 307 made from 1969-1973 is that correct. my next question is, the following number after the CE is 4n3058 I have seen where this should be a sequence number, but I can find any reference with a N in the number, what does it mean, and can I say since it is a replacement block that it is the original Motor still. What do you think?

How can it be the original motor if it is a replacement engine? It is not the motor the car left the factory with! But who cares, it is a 307 after all.
