Hi Guys,
I need help decoding a 66 327. The casting numbers are 3858174, the date is C296 (March 29, 1966) Pad is F0450HT. Double Hump Heads are Part Number 3890462 C226 (March 22, 1966) and C26 (March 2, 1966). The intake that came with the engine is 3890490.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

It looks like a 66 Corvette L79 per the given numbers including the aluminum intake. There should be a partial VIN stamped on the deck pad if this was originally installed in a 66 Corvette. The Nova had a L79 available in 1966, also, but it had a different suffix code, ZI. The Corvette version would have ram horn exhaust manifolds and a tach drive distributor .

Tory, I assume you transposed the assembly day of the engine. There aren't 50 days in a month. :D

Hi Bruce,
I meant to say F0405. That would mean Flint April 5, 1966.
I was having a rough day today, but reading your post made me laugh.
That was great timing, I needed that.
