I am in process of putting 396 back into Chevelle that was supposedly an original SS396 car. I have removed the 327 and have some concern over the engine compartment wiring. I have noticed that the temperature sending unit on the 327 was on back of intake and on the 396 on the front of intake, giving me a short wire connection. I can splice this with no real problem, is there anything else of concern? Should I get a 396 wiring harness for the engine compartment? The 396 has HEI as did the 327. Thanks for thoughts, ideas and advice...

The reason the wire is short is because it went to the driver's cylinder head. If it still has the original connector and has not been cut it should plug into the heads temp sending unit.
