I'm changing over to BB frame mounts and tall narrow motor mounts (350-454) in place of 307 items preparing for hedman headers and a positive fit to 454 and 71 chevelle. BUT, I want to use the energy suspension motor mounts. My only thought here is if the ES motor mount is maybe a little shorter or taller than a stock rubber motor mount. Can someone measure there out of car stock new motor mount for 350-454. I'm concerned with that
2 3/16" measurement
This ES pic may not look like the tall narrow, but it is. #3.1117

The plate is not optional, it must be used with the mounts on engine and transmission.

Ron , Philip is right, its a must that you use the metal plate per ES. I questioned that at the time I installed them years back.. I do use a stock rubber tranny mount.

if I remember right I also bought new motor mount bolt kit from arp(the ones that screw into the block). And They Were To Short. I wasn't comfortable with the arp set, because you need to go thru that plate also. I just went & got some allen head bolts. don't forget to check the depth. you don't want them to long either.

I used the 2 long arp bolts and the 6 arp motor mount to block bolts. Been in for at least 5 plus years.

but won't those new motor mounts be thicker than the stock ones ? mine were only going to go a few threads into the block.

I was just looking at mine today. I received my BB frame mounts today. And I will have to double check them bolts. Its been at least 5 yrs that I installed them. I don't remember any shortness problem. Maybe I'll pull one out to refresh my memory.
Still deciding if I should go ahead with the Hedmans. I'm a slow Mo Fo when it comes to spending.
