I have been looking around at some used 24 - 28' enclosed trailers to store and haul the Chevelle to the track.
Any brands to stay away from ?
A friend has a Shadowmaster wich seem to have a good rep?
I thought Hallmark was good but a few guys have told me they are junk ???
Any info on size or suggestions would be great.

I like my 24' King American, there is plenty of room for the car and other stuff. In the off season it is a good car storage shed. Make sure you get 5200lb axles.

My Haulmark is 11 years old, it's got some rust underneath from being used as a construction trailer before I got it in '09. I've reskinned it, put new brakes and tires on it, I wouldn't be afraid to pull it across the country. I put about 2000 miles on it since '09, no problems.

I have a 26' Pace American Shadow. I would have preferred a 24' but we got a killer deal on this one as someone ordered it and never picked it up. It's a 2001 model and has been from New Jersey to Chevelleabration 7 times, Ohio a couple times, New York many times, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina. I'd say I probably have about 35,000 miles on it. I just keep it serviced each year before I start traveling with it, and replace the brakes when they need it and change the tires every 3 years regardless if they need it or not.

Weigh it before you buy it. Sometimes the weight of the empty trailer will surprise you. As long as you know where the weight is coming from then you can judge.

6000 lb axles are better and BRAKES of course!!!!

The cheaper the trailer the more it will weigh after some good rain;). I have had TPD's for years.. currently a 24' triple with 5k axles. Chevelle fits perfectly with a little room to spare in the nose. They cost more- somewhere between a haulmark and a featherlight, but have great resale because noone sells their's(good aero too)

Thanks guys. Im kind of surprised to see most of you with 24'
With a Chevelle loaded , do you guys feel like there is still plenty of room for your other junk ? Can you fit in something like a 4 wheeler ?

Several guys at the track have told me to get 28' or I would regret it, but Im shopping used and kinda liked the shorter trailer for towing.

I have plenty of room in a 24 footer...got a 6 drawer tool box bolted down up front, and still room for a 5500 watt generator, extra set of tires, pit scooter, coolers, gas jugs, floor fan, and a pop-up tent.

Sounds good Bill. That should open up the market a little bit.
So far the best i found is a 28' Shadowmaster PTE with A/C ,side work lights and awning for $5500. It has plain plywood floor and no real cabinets but appears to be in good shape.

Ditto on the 24'. LOTS of room and the balance is great. Room up front for cabinets, and other stuff for a car show.

There is a big difference between a 24 and 28' trailer, do you have a big enough truck to pull 28? Remember weight distribution in a car hauler is difficult because the car must go over the wheels. There is a big difference between a Cadillac and a VW with weight and distribution.

We've had them all...Haulmark, Pace, Continental, etc....Featherlite's the best trailer out there. Ernie, call me when you're ready to sell that jewel... :D

Had a 10K 24' Haulmark. It was plenty of trailer for towing a Chevelle. Had storage cabinets and a workbench with base cabinets in front which was handy for stowing gear, coolers, etc. The interior workmanship was just ok. Lots of screws that were driven in at an angle (through carelessness, I'm sure) or screws that were overtightened and the heads popped off leaving the panel they were attached to in that area loose. I had the impression that QC wasn't a priority - at least when it came to fit and finish inside - and they must employ minimum wage labor who could care less about the job they're doing. The trailer itself was fine for its intended purpose, though. I never felt it was unsafe. Just cosmetic stuff, that for car guys/gals, can be irritating because you know they could have done it better with some skilled labor and attention to detail.

I sold the Haulmark a couple years ago and have an all aluminum ATC 36' fifth wheel, now. A huge improvement in towing ease. No more sway from trucks, wind, etc. Also, this manufacturer is much more detail oriented when it comes to workmanship.

Tow vehicle is a 2500HD duramax.
I have hauled some stuff (not a car) on this 28' trailer recently and did notice that the tongue weight gets very heavy with anything in front of the axles.

you will also need a weight distribution hitch..will end that sagging rear problem and stabilize the trailer..its a MUST have..use one on my 3500 duramax dually!..I have a 26 ft Pace..very nice trailer both in finish and design.
