Similar to the previous electical gremlin posting but some differences. Last week, I was cranking the car and all of sudden no crank, not even a click. I got under the car and found a dangling wire at the starter. I have a ministarter - the ground wire is fine. A large gauge wire was fine, but in the same bundle was an additional wire that ended in electrical tape. I don't really remember this from way back when. Anyway this small wire had some exposed area. I wrapped it in electrical tape.
I tried to crank it again, a small click. I got the old Eagle in there and jump started it. It got going and seemed to run ok. I let it run for awhile and then pulled off the jumper cables. I noticed that the gas gauge was near empty which I would never let it get that low - although the gauge is pessimistic. The aftermarket oil pressure gauge was working fine. I go to back out of the garage and turn the lights on - boom, dead as a doornail again.
What do you recommend. I am electrically challenged.
