...finally got the bucket seats in and took the car for a short drive and noticed that the electric oil pressure gauge (Autometer Pro Comp Ultra Lite) was sitting at 50 psi then started jumping all around up near 100 psi. I mean the needle was flopping back and forth like crazy. I checked the wiring and didn't find any loose connections...does this sound more like a bad sending unit or gauge? Any thoughts? Thanks.

I had the same problem with my electric oil and water temp gauges. This may sound crazy but I originally had the grounds connected to the spade terminals. Took the ground wires off of the spades and connected them to the ground post and nut. For whatever reason when I used the post instead, the gauges work fine. ???????????????/

First thing I thought of was a ground. Start there. My Autometers are all on spade rings with star washers for power, sender and ground. I had a piece of teflon tape stuck in the small hole in the sender that made mine act funny once.

Other than visual inspection of the passage and a good cleaning, I don't know of anything. Do you have any sealant on the threads? The fitting needs to have a good ground too.
