Where in the heck would you mount it and a filter? Using the stock tank and no sump. It's so crowded with all the essential things(rear end ,coil springs , exhaust and other items). I can't see any place you could mount a vertical pump and cannister filter. Especially if your trying to keep the pump below the tank (or even with it) for gravity flow. Could some one who has done this on a '68 to '72 please post some pics? Again, its a factory stock tank set up. So sumps and fuel cells wont help. Thanks.

Butch,
So that I understand. Your talking about on the inside of the frame, right above and in front of where the passenger lower rear control arm attaches into the frame (stock fuel lines are there right now). Correct?

Mine, with a trunk mounted cell, is located on the passenger inside of the frame.

Yes like where ladder bars would bolt to the frame if using bolt on ladder bars, A holley red style pump {blue or black too} will fit there

Yeah, if the stock tank were gone it would be so much easier. I really want to keep it so I've got to fiqure something else out. If only the ZZ502's had the mechanical fuel pump boss. Damn you General Motors! :(

Butch,
That location does look doable. I've got a new Holley 150 pump and I think it's bigger bodied than the red or blue pumps. I'm gonna go check it out. Also, did you run a filter and where did you mount it?

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I mounted mine in front of the lower valence under the rear bumper. I do run a sump, though. Here's a pic from underneath looking up and towards the back of the car. In the pic I do not have the line from the tank on yet, but you get the idea. Pump is a Walbro 255lph frame mounted with a Trick Flow 40micron pre filter, then I use a Delco post pump filter up by the fuel rail.

I used a RobbMc -8 sending unit from the stock tank to Summits version of a Fram HPGC1 filter and Holley black pump mounted to the vertical part of the trunk floor between the rear end and tank.It has -8 plumbing all the way to the engine compartment. Not the best set up for quiet pump operation, though adding better isolators to the mounts and a bypass regulator have helped.

keep in mind most of these electric pumps make alot of noise,, but if your racing that would not be a problem but for the steet you will hear it even over the sound of the engine , i used one for about a week , that all it took for me, also if your line should ever fail not a sitution i would want to be in

Bryan,
Thanks for the pic. That looks good if I have to sump the tank.

Jon,
I've been eye balling that same area your talking about.

Jim,
I know what you mean about the noisey pumps, unfotunately the 502 does not give me the option of a mechanical pump (Damn!)

You cant hear my Comp140 over my engine, its mounted solid to the frame and I use bullet mufflers with dumps. My line got cut in half while sliding down the guard rail last October, no fire???

Yes they can. I ran a Holley blue pump in another car and it was loud. Prior to this setup, I was running a Carter mounted up there w/o having a sump. I could barely hear it inside or out. This new Walbro pump I can't hear whatsoever.

You don't need to sump the tank. I have to with the '99 block since there's no provision for a mechanical pump. Before I converted to EFI, I ran a carter pump mounted in about that area.
