HEllo,
I have 1 1971 chevelle that has a 454 motor the motor came out of a 1993 suburban it was already converted over to a carb and i just recently changed from points to electric distributor. not sure what intake is on it now but it also has a 1405 edelbrock carb but i would like to put on a new edelbrock intake and mabey a new carb but im not sure what intakes will fit i really like the victor jr they say it will fit a 454 big block i just dont know if it will fit a suburban. Also on teh carb could i go any higher than the 1405? I would like to start adding a little power to it mostly just cruise but would like a little more hhhmpp when i wanted it any idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best eeeeeeziest cheeeeepest intake that will make a HUGE difference, is a stock 396 intake; or equiv, like Edelbrock Performer.

Notice how on the intake you have, the carb flange is BELOW the valve cover flange.

Which means, the air flows DOWN through the carb, does a 180°, flows UP, then turns back DOWN again 180° to get into the head ports. 2 COMPLETE 180° turns. This can't be good.

All you need is an intake that's not upside-down.

NOT a Vic Jr. That would be a total mismatch in every way from every angle at every scale to the motor you're putting it on. FRACTALLY WRONG.

Get up under the car and LOOK at the trans so you know what it is. Not that it's particularly important to the intake question; but, sooner or later you're going to HAVE TO know FOR SURE what it is.
