I'm seriously considering buying a set of heads on ebay. Guy sends me a second chance offer. When this happen, does the item # change? I just don't want to get scammed on this big a purchase. BTW, he will only take check or MO.

Second chance offer on the same part or something similar?Had one that said they disqualified the winner and wanted to know if wanted to purchace at my last one.Sounded like they had a friend trying to up the price to see how far i would bid.Went and got it.Had a lose from reds but he had another one just like it and wanted to know if wanted so won't have to put on ebay.Worked out allright.Would only say what is there feed back and send some pictures if for different heads.

BE CAREFUL. I've been offered "sencond chance" offers on Ebay before and they were not from the original seller. They were scammers that watch the listings then send the 2nd chance offers to the bidders at the end of the auction. I don't think the item number would change.

I offer these very often, get mixed results from my store.

Go to ebay and sign in. Go to the "my ebay" section, and look under messages. A genuine second chance offer will be listed there.

A second chance offer will have a separate item #, and is only offered to you. There is also a time limit the offer is valid for. The item should be described exactly as the original auction, and you are not obligated to buy.

I often list only one, even if I have several items, as I will get more bids. I will then give second chance offers to the next highest bidders, unless they are less than what I am willing to sell it for. I did have a guy back out seconds before an auction ended, and could not cancel his bid in time, so I would have been out, but the second bidder decided to get it.

You still have the "protection" of ebay regarding feedback. MAKE SURE IT is THE SAME GUY, as I have been offered in second chance offers, the exact same thing I was just selling-they even stole my pics.

feel free to PM me if there's any more ???

Thanks guys. Under "my ebay", it is listed there. Here's whats weird, I emailed all the other bidders before me (only two), and on got back to me stating he won the item and I must be getting scammed.

What do you think?

I just had this happen on a laptop that I was bidding on. Everything looks legit...except that they're not willing to use PayPal. I would be very careful on this one.

I got cold feet about a second chance offer on a 66 radio delete plate from a a guy different than the original auction. He later put it in a auction, and his delete plate went for $306 and some change. Good for him, bad for me. I think the 1st delete plate went for about $175. Oh well.

He could have also been given a second chance, won a different one, or was joshing you. Now I gotta know, what was it you were bidding on?

maybe he had another set. I would email him and tell him that another auctioner said they won it, and ask why he won't take paypal or others? probably because he doesnt' want to pay the 3% paypal charges on a big sell. First ask the person

I just purchased some home theatre speakers via second chance. I initially thought it was a scam...but contacted both the seller and the previous winner. Turned out the guy just had extra pairs that he wanted to offer instead of listing. Worked for me. The worst part was the 24 hour window to buy.

Paypal is geat for buyers, but yes, sellers do get charged. I never took Paypal until september because I was leery of the whole system, and people always trying to get your password. They also charge you if you want a check cut instead of transferring the money to a bank acct.

I like the convenience of it now, instead of waiting for a check/MO coming in several days, the usually going to the bank EVERY day with a few checks. I figure I save money this way now. I also have a separate acct set up and used just for ebay now-can use check card instead of credit card too.

9 times out of 10 the "2nd chance offer" is a scam. Every time I bid on a higher $ item for the last 6 months I get these scam offers. Do some emailing and you should be able to figure it out. Make sure you send an email to the original seller and not the scam email address they sent you in the "offer". Just go to the completed listing and click "contact member" and send the email that way.
