That is just downright stupid
Not the listing but the bidding.
I am curious Dean....why do you say that? This isn't consistent with previous observations I've noted in your post. I laughed at the guy that paid 1300.00 for a spare tire.......and I got shamed, put down, and "in my place" by you and Diamond Perfect Guy. This is no different.

as Diamond said "He (the buyer) earned his money and for a perfect concours car, he has a right to spend his money the way he wants"

I bought one of these filters a year ago for 250.00 from a private party and I think I got a great deal on it. They don't make these anymore and if you need it, YOU NEED IT! I wish I had shelves full of these also, but unfortunately I don't. This is why the cars that are done right command big money, and the cars that aren't as detailed bring less.

Well I know you do post an awfull lot of nonsence but if you interpreted something I said as me "shaming, putting you down, and in your place" it sure wasn't meant to be interpreted like that.
show me a link to it.

A paper air cleaner is an expendable - throw away item but sure anyone has the right to be stupid with their money.
I assume the absurd high price was the reason for this post and I do have the right to my opinion too even though other people may not agree.

{edit}
You say you want to bid $500.00 well why didn't you?

Oh, I think maybe you're talking about the time I made a comment about this site evolving into a bunch of members setting around making fun of other people's cars because they aren't as nice as ours.

When is it that important to have an actual correct stamped filter? Trailer queen?

Yep, If I had a 1000 point, Diamond certified, National magazine centerfold Chevelle that the only milage it saw was on and off a trailer ramp I'd have no hesitation paying for what It needed to be 101% correct.

And none of you would either if you were at that kind of level in this hobby.

More power to em for having a car that deserves it.

ESPECIALLY if they built it!

Well said, as above.. That is when it is THAT IMPORTANT! My car has the correct Air Filter among many many other anal details.. It's all personal preference how we restore our cars and to what level and how much we spend to do so...

FWIW.. Paragon Corvette sells the CORRECT Filter.. not GU or anyone else.. $35.00

These filters are primarily used for open element air cleaners. Many guys put these on the car, just for car shows, and have a cheaper repro, for driving the car, and any time the car is not being shown. So the cost, although fairly high, is justified by the fact that it will last for years, if it's kept in a box and only brought out for shows.

Well I guess that does make sense.
Never having been in the position of being able to afford having a car too nice to drive, I was thinking paying that much for something that you are going to throw in the trash.

To each his own, but it seems those of us that actually drive and enjoy our Chevelles (and not let them sit on a trailer) can't fathom spending that kind of coin on an air filter....to us it's money better spent on beer or smokes or real go fast stuff....afterall cars ain't no fun if you don't drive them....

From now on we should not post the ridiculous prices on ebay auctions, because chances are someone from this board building a trailer queen will get offended.

I have 25 gallons of 1970 Sunoco 260 Premium Gas for sale
lets start the bidding at 1000 a gallon
Hey I happen to have an NOS front nose header panel for a 1975-1978 Ford LTD, too bad LTD's aren't hot cars to build.....:(

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it.. Maybe some day if you have a car worthy of being shown to the highest standards, you will see that much enjoyment comes out of that also..you don't have to agree with what those of us who don't drive em or smoke or drink do.. but show us the same RESPECT that you want, for how you get Your Enjoyment out of your car.

It doesn't have to be an US vs, Them attitude everytime this tired subject comes up...

and as far as Offending.. Dam right I get offended when someone questions how I get my own personal enjoyment .. just as you would be offended if I told you that smoking and drinkin is a sad way to get enjoyment and spend money.

nuff said.. it's all good
