the heads are older afr ported brodix bb2 heads that flow 370 int and 305 exh.they were new in 1990 iv,e done some more work to them but not much.the engine was dynoed at gary stinnets shop, a very successful nhra sportsman drag racer.i may put a vacuum pump on it set up to pull about 10 inches.should make another 25 hp or so
i think it did pretty well considering it had a stock block and 23 year old cyl heads. it made peak power at 7300 and peak torque was at 5600.theres quite a few guys running 1000 plus 582's in this class. i expect 10.90's at 140.the big motor guys are running 150 plus
i dropped a valve in june which wouldnt have happened if i would have pulled the retainer off after i broke a rocker arm.i ended up boring the engine and new je pistons new comp shaft rockers, new retainers and springs.also, new bushed roller lifters from crower.this stuff is getting to expensive lol.i just updated the engine and i'm amazed at how much i've spent
i,ve been running the nhra super street with it so i didn't run it off the throttle stop except for a few times in the 1/8 where it ran a 6.05. i think it would have gone a 9.50 in good air. maybe 9.30 now.car weight is 3200 with driver
I think you may be surprised with the numbers. Mine when first done years ago dynoed at 817 and 680 torque. I went 9.32 at 3160 lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if it hits the 9 teens in good air.
