I have a stock 70 SS 396 with auto. I am looking for a new exhaust system. I am currently running stock mufflers and no resonators. What was the function of the resonators. Also I would like to put some loud and throaty mufflers on , any suggestions, 2 1/2 or 3" What is best? I am looking for the stock look with tips and all. THanks

you will loose torque if you go with 3" as there is no back pressure. 3" will work fine if you are running 450 hp or more.

I met a guy at chevellabration last year who ran a 69 chambered exhaust on his 70 chevelle. I didn't get to hear it, do you know if that is a popular conversion and if it sounds good or not

Sorry but I will have to disagree with that. 3" on any bigblock will work just fine.
