my 67 ss has a what seems to look like a short battery cable hung across the tranny tunnle ,under the drive shaft, torwards the front of the shaft. this is not factory is it?I thought someone had to have put this on.I dont see how this could stop a chucked drive shaft. this so called hoop is about 2 foot long. I dont know why I even left it on!
have any of you seen this done, I have the car for 20 years so it must be a old trick.

A car floor cant even stop a drive shaft, it can rip through a cars floor like a can opener, so I dont think the cable will do much. you can purchase drive shaft loops if you need one.

67Rat, I think part of the function of a drive shaft loop is to keep the shaft from digging into the ground and levering up the rear of the car. Someone thought the cable would do the trick and it might, but it wouldn't keep the shaft from tearing up your tunnel or your ba$1z off.
