Thanks to all you guys I solved my problem. I was able to remove the tap using a tap extractor and finished the hole.

Yeah ditto. When you described what you were doing I could just picture the chas man under there, "One more turn - SNAP AAARGH". Hope I didn;t send a bad vibe your way and glad the experts here could help. I learned/relearned a bit from following your thread.

Oh Hey saw a 69 L88 orignal Vette the other day for 90K.

Hey David-
Glad to hear ya got it. I needed to post this where I know you would see it. Are you still looking for a fan shroud for the car? My friend found a little shop on Walnut in Pasadena(1 block north of Colorado where they run the Rose Parade) a place called Crown City Radiators they have shrouds that bolt right up they dont look exactly like stock ones but its functional.
