Hello Guys,

What drag race seats are you using? Right now I have a bench seat and would like to switch to something lighter and more in line with safety concerns.

I like the Kirkey Pro Street seat (which is actaully produced 50 miles of me) or the Summit/Jegs plastic ones. I have a roll bar so I would like to have the proper mounting situation as well. I bracket race this car and have about 100 passes this year. I also am forced to drive the car to the track (no truck&trailer combo) so it is street driven.

It seems like a the car is currently hard on my back because the suspension is so stiff. It could also be changing 4 tires each time I arrive at the track.

Thanks

Kris

Kirkey, i'll post the part number i like when i get home... I think the "econo drag" has added aluminum in the kidney area that makes it very hard to get in and out of the car, and hard to sift depending on shifter location.

I am in the same boat. All I can say is the Kirkey's look better up close than the plastic.

I had been concerned about comfort on a 30 min street drive , alot of Kirkey owners have assured me the Pro street with a cloth cover is comfortable. That is what I am leaning toward getting.

Hope to hear some more info in this thread.

I am wondering a bit too about just using the bench. The bench has some shock absorbing properities,,, I would have to invest close to $500 in new seats&hardware. Although, the weight savings is about 70 lbs switching to the racing seats..

This past winter I installed a set of the Kirkey Pro Street seats (had a bench seat prior). I love them. I find them more comfortable then the bench seat was. However, they are a little more "work" getting into the seat then the bench seat was! :D The seat cover also have foam on the seat bottoms molded to fit nicely with the back of your legs..

I have a roll bar so I would like to have the proper mounting situation as well.
I made up my own rear bracket which attaches to my harness mount on the roll bar..

I hear the Kirkey Pro streets are very comfortable. IMO I don't like how high they come up though.

I like the way the JAZ aluminum ones look since they are lower, but there is not much feedback on them. I know a guy who street drives them without any covers lol:p

That's a awesome looking job Dave,
It certainly puts my interior to shame! I have a car show at a chassis builders place tommorow and I will get some numbers$$$ on labour. I have been eyeing a welder (to do the job myself)..

I talked to the chassis guy and I will proceed with the aluminum seats. I will "cheat"" here and pay for someone to do the labour. I will update with pics..

I am looking at the RCI units (they are a little cheaper,it all adds up), I talked to some guys and it seems like there isn't much difference between most companies. I have been street driving a bit more and my back doesn't hurt so I think I can rule out a stiff suspension causing back aches. It is likely from changing 4 tires each time I go to the track.

Yes they will be braced against the roll bar, I will get the cage to a 10 point and get the weld gusseted. I will get the chassis upgraded as much as possible so I won't likely have to do it again...

I got the car back from the chassis shop, I got the RCI seats out in, along with RCI belts, and a 10 point conversion cage...

Thanks Robb,
Yes I have the RCI black seat covers, I hope the seats are "decently" comfortable...

The fabricator also totally attached the seat to the roll bar. He wanted to get the proper angle to the seat belts..I will take a picture of that too. It is kind of cool looking,,

Hey guys,

I just thought I would show a neat way of how the chassis guy attached the seats to the roll bar...
