I have used Doug Thorley headers for about 5 years. On my original 72/350 they fit fine. No clearance problems. I did have to remove starter, oil filter & loosen tranny cooling lines to get them in. Also had car jacked up about 18 inches.

This summer I put in a new 300HP/350 crate motor & new motor mounts. With the new motor, the headers rubbed on the steering shaft. I don't know why. I put 2 washers between motor mount and motor and this lifted the motor/headers enough for clearance.

When I swapped motors, I had the headers ceramic coated. The chrome plating looked bad after a short time. They were model 375Y. The catalog I have in front of me now says that they will fit angle plug heads also.

Are they still making headers for auto's? I had "heard" that they were only doing trucks & RV's. Phone number in Corona Ca was 909-735-7280. Area code may have changed.

I was looking at some tri-y's for my 67. Yes, they still make them for cars. I talked to a guy with a 350 69 Camaro & he said they fit fine & had no problems installing.

I realize that I don't have a small block in my 69 (427) but the Doug Thorley headers are about as perfect a fit as anyone could ask for. I have air, power steering and brakes with a 4 speed. Plenty of clearance for the spark plugs and starter. I recommend them to everyone.

AFAIK, they don't make headers for 64-67 Chevelles. They do make them for later models.
